Loving God, Loving Others, Making Disciples

Prayer for the New Year

I was talking to Margie Cook yesterday and she was telling me how at the end of every year she reviews “the good, the bad and the ugly” of that year. I listened with great interest as she explained how she did this consistently every year. I thought, “Wow! I wish I could be more like that!” I know I could have great intentions, but for those who know me well, it’s laughable that I would consistently do anything year after year.  We are all different, with different personalities and strengths. But we can all pray – whether it’s a methodical prayer, a well-thought out prayer, a detailed prayer or a fly-by-the seat-of-your-pants prayer. Sometime today, tomorrow or in the first few days of the New Year, may we all take time to reflect on the past year and give thanks to God for His grace and faithfulness and pray for His continued presence and power in the days ahead.

May God be with you,
