Loving God, Loving Others, Making Disciples

He will sustain you…

At 6:51 this morning I received a text from a friend that simply had this Scripture from Isaiah 46:4: “Even to your old age and gray hairs I am He, I am He who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.” It was perfect timing. She had no way of knowing that I had just gotten up from “trying” to pray. Feeling very unsuccessful, I had moved on with my day because I had an appointment to play golf with my 85 year old dad at 7:00, but my prayer time had left me still feeling distracted and lonely – dissatisfied. When I saw the text I was immediately encouraged as God reminded me through a very familiar passage that it wasn’t about me or my feelings but it is always about Him. He is the One who brought me safely from the womb, who has carried me throughout my life, who has sustained me through every trial and temptation, who has shown me such grace and mercy and love. And through my friend and His Word, He reminded me this morning that He will continue to sustain me through and rescue me from whatever life sends my way. As always, when we take our eyes off of ourselves and put them on Jesus – the author and finisher of our faith – we find peace.

Corrie Ten Boom said it this way:

“When I look at the world I get distressed. When I look at myself I get depressed. But when I look to Jesus, I find rest.”

Praying you find rest today by looking to Jesus,

Sandra
