Loving God, Loving Others, Making Disciples

What Do You See?

Hey Guys,

I am currently involved in two fantasy football leagues. For those that aren’t sure what I’m talking about, we have drafts and then set our line-ups to offer us the best scenario to score more points than our opponent each week. Unlike real football, our fantasy teams will have players from many teams and we have to be concerned about matchups on many different levels. Therefore, studying charts, waiver wires, injury reports are necessary to be successful.

Gone are the days when I could just sit back and enjoy a game. Instead, my football worldview is one of constant channel changing and yahoo updates – never mind the nail biting as to whether Gronkowski will be active at game time! The way I approach football each week is different.

As I have looked at the world around me and tried to deal with the problems of everyday life, I have come to realize that there is more to life than what we see with our eyes and other senses and what we learn about the world through using our minds.

There is a God who created this world and the most basic question in life is what our relationship with Him will be. He has given each of us a clear and simple choice: to accept Him or to reject Him. We can live our lives either the way we want to live it or to live it the way He knows is best for us. How do we learn about the way He wants us to live?

Just like preparing for my football league requires a different view, our Christian lives require a different look as well. As a Christ follower, I believe that the Bible is God’s explanation to us of who He is, who we are, and how we should live our lives. I also believe that when we spend time preparing for each day through study, prayer and worship, the way we see the world will be different than before.

I would love to hear your thoughts,

Paul
