Loving God, Loving Others, Making Disciples

The Command to Pray

Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. Luke 18:1

In Luke 11, as Jesus was instructing the disciples on how to pray, He began with, “when you pray.” Jesus said when and not if. This is important because we are commanded to pray, not just if we feel like it. Prayer is a demonstration of our obedience and an opportunity to receive from God all that He desires to give. Prayer should never be just a sideline habit or a duty performed at the dinner table. We are to pray persistently and passionately.

Are you communicating with God regularly through prayer? What may be standing in your way to a more vibrant prayer life? In your prayer time today, ask God to give you an even deeper desire to pray. Read Luke 18 for two parables on prayer that Jesus shared with His listeners. Let me know your thoughts.
