Loving God, Loving Others, Making Disciples

Quiet Time

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. John 10:27

We all know that a good relationship is a two-way street. In the same way, a proper prayer relationship should be a conversation, a dialog where both are listening to each other. As important as it is to pray, it is every bit as important to listen.

In Scripture, the young Samuel didn’t pray, “Listen, Lord, your servant is speaking.” He instead prayed, “Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening!” How does God speak? He might open or close a door. He might speak through a friend. He may prompt us to move or act.

We need to set aside quiet times every day to be quiet and listen for the Lord to speak. Let me know how your prayer life is going.
