Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:5b-7
Yesterday we said that prayer was powerful because of what God does for us. Today, I want to focus on what God does in us. Prayer is a powerful part of our own spiritual transformation and growth.
In the verse above, Peter calls upon Christ followers to pray after he urges them to grow in their humility. I believe that our prayers affect and impact our lives as much as the ones we are praying for. There may be things in which God wants to grow us that can only come about through prayer. As we pray, we don’t have to be tempted to appear to have it all together or all figured out.
How is God growing you through your prayers?
