Being Persistant

Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.” Colossians 4:2

I have never been accused of being overly persistent. In fact, I’m pretty inconsistent. Oh, there were times when I was a young child, I would persistently hound my parents for some game or toy or instrument until they gave in or I would give up, but I am talking about being persistent in our prayers.

Jesus told a parable in Luke 11:5-10 about being persistent. Persistent prayer takes faithfulness and patience. If you are praying for a real need in your life, be assured that God hears you. He knows your need and He cares. When the answer is slow in coming, we must persevere. We must continue to pray through our doubt, our fears, we must refuse to give up.

Have you ever given up on a prayer request? God is patient, long-suffering and all-knowing. I urge you to commit to praying persistently about what’s on your heart until you hear from God.
