Loving God, Loving Others, Making Disciples

What Matters to God When We Pray – part 4

But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the LordJames 1:6-7

Besides relationships, motives and living a God-honoring life, another thing that matters to God when we pray is our faith. What is really cool to me is that God seems to really respond to just a simple and childlike faith. It’s sad that for some, the longer they do religion, the less childlike faith they have. It’s like we become skeptical about the power of our prayers.

There are many examples in the Bible of the faith of “pray-ers” when calling on God to move and answer. I love the story of two guys who were blind, and, and they ran up to Jesus and they cried out, “Jesus, have mercy on me, Son of David. Have, have mercy on us!”  Matthew 9, verse 29 and 30, Jesus said, “Do you believe I can do this?” and he said, “Yes, I do.” Then scripture says,

Then he touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith will it be done to you”; and their sight was restored. Matthew 9:29-30

The same God, who did that two thousand years ago, is the God who can answer your prayers when you believe all things are possible with God. Your faith matters and can move mountains.
