Praying Like Jesus – part 3

Give us today our daily bread…Matthew 6:11

Jesus taught us in His prayer to seek God’s provision for our daily needs. “Jehovah-Jireh,” means that God is our provider, and so many times, I think that we forget that God is our provider.  Many times, we think that we provide.  Or, we think that Wal-Mart provides, or McDonald’s provides.  Some of you think that your job provides.  When we come to God in prayer, we have to come to Him in a place where we understand that God is our provider.  Everything that we have, everything that we are is because He has given us gifts.  He has provided for us, and so when we are praying, we have to understand that and come to Him with our daily needs.

In Philippians 4:19, Paul says, “and my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” I’m telling you, God is a provider.  It’s not us, it’s Him, and some of us have deep needs.  Some of us have marriages that are a wreck.  Some are struggling financially.  Some of us struggle with selfishness.  When we come to Him in prayer, we need to recognize that He is Jehovah-Jireh, “and my God will meet all of your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.”  What are you asking for? What are your needs? Are you trusting in Jehovah-Jireh?
