Loving God, Loving Others, Making Disciples

Considering the Message of Jesus

We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. Romans 3:22

I saw yesterday that Time has put out their list of the 100 most influential people for 2017. You may not be surprised, but I wasn’t on the list. What was surprising is some of the people that were on the list. It made me think of influential people that would be on my list. I think of great people and pastors and others that have helped shape my life. At the top of the list would have to be Jesus.

For me, Jesus is real and has influenced the direction of my life. Knowing He is alive and loves me is the difference between religion and relationship. Don’t miss that. Jesus did not come to start a religion. Jesus came to offer us eternal life. He came to show us the love of God.

I love the church and that “old time religion,” but sometimes that can be about business rather than people; about how you perform. Religion is all about what you do, what you do. Relationship tells you Jesus already did it all for you. I have met with many church members that were sick or scared dying and they said that they tried to live a good life and hoped that they would see Jesus. Jesus is our hope. Consider the eternal message that you’re not made right with God by your own good works, but by the grace and the Love of Jesus.

Today, reflect on your spiritual journey. Are you relying on the promise and hope found in Christ or do you need Jesus + something else? Blessed assurance – Jesus is mine
