Loving God, Loving Others, Making Disciples

Psalm 1:1-3 tells us the blessedness of the one that immerses himself in the Word of God:

Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked, Or stand in the way that sinners take, Or sit in the company of mockers, But whose delight is in the law of the LORD, And who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— Whatever they do prospers.

If we will delight ourselves in the Bible and meditate on it day and night, God promises that we will be like a tree planted by streams of water, yielding fruit in season. He doesn’t say that we won’t have problems but that we will be nourished and grow and our lives will bear fruit when the time is right, we won’t die on the vine and whatever we do – we will prosper. To meditate on Scripture means to think deeply about it, to speak it, to dwell on it. It requires time.

I encourage you today to ask God for a verse of Scripture to meditate on. If you don’t know where to start you could try Psalm 24:1, Psalm 27:1 or choose one of your own. Think about it, say it over and over again, pray about it, wait on the Lord and see what He will say to you.

May He bless you today as you meditate on His Word,

Sandra
