Loving God, Loving Others, Making Disciples

I was listening to people recently talk about all of the warnings they were hearing about financial disaster and hard times coming to America. They were discussing how to prepare for survival: storing up food, obtaining guns, etc. I’ve heard and thought about these things often – I did the Y2K thing of preparing for the worst. But these days I just remember Psalm 91 – “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, ‘You are my refuge and my fortress.'”

This doesn’t mean that I live careless and unprepared, it just means that I seek mostly to dwell in the presence of El Elyon – the Sovereign Lord who is in charge so that I can know that I abide in the shadow of El Shaddai – the All Sufficient One. He alone is my refuge and fortress – my protection in times of trouble.

When we know the names of the Lord- His character, when we live by His Word, we can “run into Him and be safe.” Proverbs 18:10 – The Name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous run into it and are safe.”

Know the Names of your God by feeding upon His revelation of Himself – the Bible. Put your trust in Him. Be safe!

Because of Jesus,
