Loving God, Loving Others, Making Disciples

Living Differently

Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will grant you his blessing. 1 Peter 3:9

How many of you would be excited, overwhelmed with anticipation if you realized that God was calling you to do something specifically? In our study of 1 Peter, the Disciple uses the words Calling, Call, Called over and again. Having a calling encourages us. Having a calling empowers us to move and to act. 1 Peter 2:9 says, “ … for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.” Peter is reminding us of who and Whose we are.

Think about your life. What is your life saying to those people around you? What are you already doing that not just tells, but shows people God’s goodness? We need to understand who we are so that we can know what to do. Consider this week how you can be a pastor on call, committing to live out our lives as royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. See you at Onward.
