Loving God, Loving Others, Making Disciples

1 Peter – Chapter 1

Hey Guys,

We have been in a series studying the Word of God. As we begin our Wednesday Night series, 40 Days In The Word, I want to encourage y’all to make it a daily habit to get into God’s Word.

This Sunday I will begin a series on the book of 1 Peter. As we look around our world today, it’s as if a poison has spread to all areas of our lives. Though this may seem like it is a recent thing, this poison – sin – has been spreading since the beginning of time. When something is poisoned or is sick, we need the correct medicine or antidote to make us well. I believe that the book of 1 Peter can offer us Good News toward removing the poison from our lives.

This week we will look at 1 Peter Chapter 1. Take some time and think about the following questions.

  • Think of your lifestyle before you became a Christian. List some of the issues that drove you to consider Jesus seriously. How is your life different now? How is it the same?

Read 1 Peter 1:1-12

  • God has offered treasures for all who follow Him. What are some of the treasures Peter highlights that can never be taken away? Discuss how you have experienced one of these treasures in your own life over this past year?
  • Peter describes some of the fruit that is born in our lives through times of trial. What grows in the life a follower of Christ through times of struggle, loss, and trials?
  • How have you seen God receive praise through a time of trial and struggle?

 Read 1 Peter 1:13-21

  • What are some attitudes or actions Peter calls us to incorporate into our lives?
  • Think about a loss or time of struggle you have faced in the last year. How did you experience God’s presence and work in your life through this time?

I would love to hear your thoughts,

Paul
