Loving God, Loving Others, Making Disciples

God’s Word

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path—Psalm 119:105

God’s word to us is so important. We must read and meditate on the Scriptures because God has chosen those words for you and for me.

“For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.” Romans 15:4

And he designed us to need to read them. “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” Matthew 4:4

Howard Hendricks said that, “the only two things that are leaving this planet are people and the Word of God.” This means we need to be diligent about investing in people and really studying God’s word while we are here.

Most of us can do better—reading Scripture more and with more regularity. We all live busy and often hectic lives so figuring out how is the problem. But it’s a problem we should approach with excitement and intentionality and optimism, not with guilt or a sense of duty or resignation.

Remember, this is about a relationship with God and not about rules or the “right way.” It’s about making room for God to speak to you through Scripture. It’s about connecting with God, today – this very moment. I want to encourage you to dig into the Bible and let His word speak to you today.

Let me know how I can pray for you,

Paul
