God is taking me into a new, more passionate season of prayer. As a Christian, I have always prayed, even as a small child. But during most of our lifetimes, we have never encountered as powerful an enemy as the Corona Virus. We can’t see it, we can’t smell it, or hear it. It is an invisible enemy until you contract it. And it’s not limited to our community, state or country. It’s all over the world!
I’m grateful that my mother raised me not to panic in bad situations and to try and see something good in the worst experiences. Yes, people are getting sick and dying. What a terrible thing for them and their family and friends to suffer. But I’ve noticed (not everywhere) that with most people I have met, there is more of a kind and unselfish attitude than normal.
I was deeply touched by the man in California who saw a clip of a single mom who was a nurse, going to school, and having 5 children at home trying not to get behind in their schoolwork. The biggest problem was the mom only owned 1 computer. When she should have been sleeping, we was using the computer to do her class work so her kids could swap time on the computer during the day. This man generously sent her 5 computers so she wouldn’t have to share hers so she could get some much needed sleep. This is what I’m talking about!
Of course we are seeing the greedy and/or panicky, or both, buying up enough face masks and other much needed items to the point that the hospitals, where they are desperately needed are running out.
I’ve said all that to say this, just because most of our churches have cancelled future services to help prevent further cases of the virus, doesn’t mean we can’t pray at home. Not only can we pray alone but we can pray with others on the phone and give them words of encouragement or a promise of God to hang onto.
God instructs us to call out to Him in times of trouble. We who are His children are instructed to Ask, Seek and Knock (Matthew 7:7) and He will answer, we will find Him and He will open up the door of love, grace, mercy, peace and joy to us!
Also, don’t miss out on Paul and Sandra’s live Facebook videocast at 1 p.m. each day. It reminds me of a radio show with humor, scripture, words of encouragement and information. They, as always, have made a great team. Don’t miss out!
And know that we on the staff, elder board and other church leaders are praying for YOU! You are loved and valued here at Three Point.
God bless and keep you,
