Do you think we are living in unusual times? Do you sense an uncomfortable struggle in both the secular and spiritual world? If so, you are not alone.
Christian leaders around the globe are wrestling in their spirit with the issues that confront us. Whether in the form of a biological, societal, or spiritual pandemic, those whom God has called to spiritual leadership are wrestling “not against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of wickedness” (Ephesians 6:12).
Yes, it is true that the roots of the battles have always drawn from the spiritual world, but right now, there is one huge difference, and that is technology.
Technology has opened the world of information so wide that truth and lie, honesty and deception are so mixed together that people everywhere struggle with what to believe and whom to follow.
I am reminded of an old hymn we would sometimes sing as I was growing up. The verses read;
“In times like these you need a Savior, in times like these you need an anchor; Be very sure, be very sure your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock.”
“In times like these you need the Bible, in times like these O be not idle; Be very sure, be very sure your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock!” – Ruth Caye Jones
In times like these we must be unapologetically Bible-based and Christ-centered. I pray that you feel as I do that in times like these, we must not be idle! Not just because “each of us will give an account of ourselves to God” (Romans 14:12), but because in times like these the world needs men and women of God who really are praying.
The prophet Joel declares, “Blow the trumpet in Zion, declare a holy fast, call a sacred assembly. Gather the people, consecrate the assembly” (Joel 2:15-16). How powerful would it be if we came together in spirit, as the Church to call on God and His moving during this unprecedented time?
Oh, LORD, we pray for revival in our lives, our homes, our churches, and our country…
