Loving God, Loving Others, Making Disciples

Jesus

God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him would not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16

This is arguably the most famous sentence in the Bible. But why is this specific verse so popular? I believe it is because this verse gives us a summary of the absolute perfect and greatest gift we as believers can receive –the gift of Jesus.

Jesus revealed everything about God that God wished for us to know. He is the complete revelation of God Himself. Jesus says in John 14:6 that, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” No one else – living or dead, can make that claim.

God sent his only Son to suffer and die. Jesus did not die for a certain group of people, but for all of humanity, for all of us sinners. God deemed that we were important enough to him that he was willing to lose his son to save our lives. The gift of Jesus is truly a remarkable gift.

To become the person that God designed us for, we must have a relationship with Jesus. Knowing about Jesus isn’t good enough. We must experience Him personally. We need to hang out with Him, abide in Him, feel His presence – love Him like He loves us. The closer we get to Jesus, the closer we are to experiencing and fulfilling what we were created for. Make this relationship your top priority today.
