All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness. 2 Timothy 3:16
My attempts at fixing things around the house or church usually end up with me paying someone to come and undo the damage I’ve created – not to mention the unscheduled trips to the emergency room! In fact, my use of tools has been a joke for many of you who know me best. But recently I successfully built some things and fixed some things by carefully watching a YouTube video with step-by-step details.
Paul was a powerful example to Timothy and to the people that he ministered to. In fact, as we study his letter to the Colossians, we see the necessity of building our lives on God’s Word. Better than any YouTube video, we can turn to the Bible to see examples of success and failure, of obedience and selfishness, of our need for redemption, and the love and sacrifice of Jesus to save us all. Paul, in Colossians 2:4, reminds us of Jesus so that we would not be deluded by, “…teachings or things of this world.” And he strongly challenges us to, “…continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that we have heard…” (Colossians 1:23).
I want to encourage you to look to God’s Word for life’s instructions and to the example of those Godly people around you.
