“Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us).
Matthew 1:23
The Christmas season is filled with family, friends, and activities – and yet there are many that feel isolated and alone. During these “dark” times, it can seem that no one knows us, that no one is there for us.
I want to share with you some good news. Jesus is there with you and for you. You see, this season we are reminded that Jesus is Immanuel, God with us. The truth is, God is always there, in every moment, bright and dark. “I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5). God doesn’t abandon us in dark moments, even when our sin causes the darkness. So we must learn to see him, even in those moments.
It may be difficult as we tend to focus on our struggles, but take a moment to stop, look, and listen. Stop focusing on the bad, the disappointing, the failures and remember the mercy, grace and blessings that He has given us. Look outward and upward with prophetic eyes to see beyond our momentary struggles to see the light at the end of the tunnel. And finally, listen to His still small voice in your prayers, Bible study, and quiet times.
