As the church – the body of Christ, we carry within us the only solution to the despair, and hopelessness clouding the hearts and minds of too many in our contradictory and confused culture. Bill Hybels was quoted as saying that the church is the hope of the world. We know that our hope is found only in Jesus, but the church is the body of Christ.
Charles Wesley wrote in 1762, “A charge to keep I have, a God to glorify, a never-dying soul to save, and fit it for the sky. To serve the present age, my calling to fulfill: Oh, may it all my pow’rs engage to do my Masters will!”
A New Year is here. And that’s my prayer for us as a church right now. I’m praying for a fresh filling of the Holy Spirit in our hearts. I’m praying for a deeper relationship with the Father. I’m praying for revival – not only for Three Point, but for our families, our communities, and our nation, and I’m praying for clarity and purpose as we walk into the New Year with Jesus.
One thing I love about New Year’s Day is that it’s easy to believe that anything is possible. In 2023, let us be the church that Christ ordained us to be.
