As a musician for most of my life, I have found that the greatest, most noble, most enriching, most thrilling, most soul-stirring songs in all of human history have come from the hearts of the people of God. As I grow older, I find that many of these songs and hymns take on an even deeper meaning and I find myself emotional.
The secular world has nothing to compare – except for maybe Butterfly Kisses – (it made me cry when my daughter got married.) Perhaps that is because they spend more time on anger and bitterness and really do not have anything much to sing about. However, as Christ followers, WE DO!
