Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving; Colossians 4:2
As we continue our study of Paul’s letter to the Colossians, we came to this verse about the importance of prayer. Prayer is one of the primary means by which we communicate with God, both bringing to Him our thanks, petitions, and requests and also hearing from Him directly. It is an exercise that we should devote ourselves to and engage in on a regular basis.
The Apostle Paul says in his letter to the Thessalonians, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”(1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
Praying without ceasing – with our shorter attention spans and busy lives, this may seem like an impossible task. But Paul encourages us to build a life of prayer; a life where communicating with God is not just a last hope or an irregular habit, but rather a continuous talking with our Creator, God, through which we grow in our relationship with Him.
Daily meditation and prayer are a great way of growing in our faith journey. Also, it is the will of God in Christ Jesus! How is God answering your prayers?
