“On the next day the large crowd who had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, took the branches of the palm trees and went out to meet Him, and began to shout, “Hosanna! BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD, even the King of Israel” John 12:12, 13
We just celebrated Palm Sunday. This is when we remember Jesus entering Jerusalem the week of His trial, murder, and resurrection. We call this week Holy Week. Here is a timeline of what happened scripturally during this pivotal week:
Palm Sunday – Jesus enters Jerusalem on a donkey amid shouts of Hosanna Monday: Jesus cleansed the temple reminding everyone that it was to be a house of prayer and not a den of robbers. Tuesday: Jesus teaches at the temple Wednesday: Judas meets with the men to betray Jesus Thursday: Jesus shares a last meal with His disciples and washes their feet Friday: Jesus is crucified on the cross and darkness covers the whole earth Saturday: Jesus rested in the tomb. In other biblical accounts (1 Peter) he preaches in spirit to those in prison those who formerly did not obey during the time of Noah. Sunday: Jesus is risen! His death, burial, and resurrection paid for our sins and gives all who believe in Him eternal life.
There were many other teachings and things that Jesus did during this time. I invite you to read through the Gospels to get a deeper look into Jesus’ last week.
