Last Sunday, we lit the candle of Hope, mindful of the hope that Jesus’ birth would bring to the world. This Sunday, we will light the candle of love.
God, in His Word, tells us that He loves us. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” It’s God’s amazing love that He poured out on us through Jesus. He doesn’t love us based on how good or nice we are. He loves us because He wants to. In fact, the Bible says that while we were still sinners, God sent his son to rescue us. He didn’t just say He loved us; he showed us his great love for us.
The birth of Jesus is so important because it reminds us that God is with us, that he is for us, that he keeps his promises, and that we are loved more than we could ever know.
