The writer of Hebrews says that, “… the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12
Have you ever experienced God’s Word coming alive in your life? Has there ever been a time when a verse or passage felt as if God had written it specifically to you?
I’ve said many times from the pulpit that when we open up the Bible, God speaks. Maybe that is why there is sometimes a reluctance to get beyond the surface of a verse and to let it “judge the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” I know that this has been the case in my life. Many times, the Spirit has convicted me to go deeper into the Word. The message God gave me when planting Three Point was to take people deeper into the Scriptures, to fall even deeper in love with God and His Word.
My prayer, as we continue to study God’s Word, the Bible, is that we would move from merely reading the Bible to actually hearing God’s voice through it. This week, read Hebrews 4:12, and we’ll go deeper on this verse on Sunday.
