So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, 2 complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Philippians 2:1-2
Who is someone you know who models humility well? I have crossed paths with certain people who left a lasting impression on me with their servant’s heart.
On Sunday, we looked at Philippians 2 and how the Apostle Paul described how joy flows from unity and humility, which is perfectly modeled in Jesus.
Paul begins with an appeal: “If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ… then make my joy complete by being like-minded.”
He’s saying: Since you already belong to Christ, live it out. Be united, love one another, and put others first. The word like-minded doesn’t mean we have to agree on every detail — it means sharing the same mindset, the same heartbeat, centered on Jesus. Jesus went from the lowest humiliation to the highest honor. And one day, every knee will bow, every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.
When we take on the mind of Christ, we discover the secret Paul knew: joy isn’t found in pride, but in humility. This week, look for one practical way to put someone else’s needs ahead of your own and worship Jesus as Lord over all.
