“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Philippians 4:6
How do you usually handle stress or worry?
Worry and stress are like background noise in our lives—always there, always trying to keep us distracted. But Paul, writing from prison, gives us a different way to manage our stress and worry – he says that he has “learned” contentment.
He says to pray before we panic, to thank before we complain, and to think of good things before we let anxiety take over. Not pretending everything’s fine, but rather, choosing to rest in who God is, even when life feels uncertain.
When we do these things, God’s promise is not that every problem will vanish—but that “the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
