Have you ever looked around and thought: “Things sure have changed.” One day you look around and realize the world you are living in feels very different from the world you remember.
Technology changes. Values change. Relationships change. Families change. Communities change. Churches change. And sometimes our personal world changes suddenly.
A phone call. A diagnosis. A job loss. A relationship ends. A child makes a decision we never expected. And suddenly we’re living somewhere emotionally or spiritually that we never intended to go.
That’s where Daniel begins. Daniel isn’t sitting comfortably in Jerusalem studying theology. His world has collapsed. Babylon has invaded Jerusalem. Nebuchadnezzar has won. Daniel has been carried away from everything familiar. He’s living in a place he never chose. And Daniel has to answer a question that every follower of God eventually has to answer:
How do I remain faithful to God when the world around me doesn’t share my faith?
And Daniel is going to show us something remarkable: You don’t have to run from Babylon. You don’t have to become Babylon. You can faithfully follow God right in the middle of Babylon.
