“He got down on his knees and prayed… just as he had done before.” Daniel 6:10
When Daniel heard the decree to bow down to the statue, he went back home and prayed. That was his response because prayer was already his daily practice.
Our responses under pressure usually reveal what we’ve been practicing. So we need to ask ourselves: when I’m stressed, what do I instinctively do? Worry? Control? Withdraw? Complain? Scroll? Get angry? Or pray?
This isn’t about guilt. It’s about formation. God can teach us a new way to respond. Today, take whatever weighs most heavily on you and make prayer your first response, not your last resort.
Remember these four truths:
1) CHARACTER IS BUILT BEFORE THE CRISIS. Faithfulness in small things matters.
2) PRAYER PREPARES ME FOR WHAT I CANNOT PREDICT. Ordinary habits build extraordinary courage.
3) THE LIONS ARE NOT SOVEREIGN. What is beyond my control is still under God’s authority.
4) JESUS HAS ALREADY DEFEATED THE GRAVE. Even death does not get the final word.
And finally, PRAY.
