We believe that baptism is biblically ordained; meaning, God designed baptism to be practiced in His church. Baptism is your opportunity to stand up and tell the world about your personal commitment to follow Jesus.
Baptism isn’t required for salvation, but is the first step of faith for believers. The baptismal waters don’t save anyone. It’s Jesus that does that. Baptism is a picture of the work that Jesus has done in a person’s heart.
Baptism isn’t what saves you, but it’s an outward symbol of your inner commitment to follow Christ. In a way, baptism is like a wedding ring. The ring doesn’t make you married, but it’s a symbol of your love and devotion to your spouse, and that your life is being lived for someone else.
What is Baptism?
- A sign of identification (Acts 8:36-38)
- Symbolic of death and resurrection (Romans 6:4-5)
- Representative of a cleansing (1 Peter 3:1)
- Important step of obedience in Scripture (Matthew 28:19-20, 1 John 2:3)
“And now why do you wait? Rise and be baptized and wash away your sins, calling on his name.” Acts 22:16
