12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Hebrews 4:12
The Bible isn’t ancient literature that belongs in a museum. It’s not outdated or irrelevant. It is breathing. It is moving. It is working—right now. The writer of Hebrews says that the word of God is sharp and piercing, not to harm us but to help heal us. It judges the heart by showing us what we are doing in opposition to God, and also why we are doing it.
