12 Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
John 8:12
We live in a dark world. We see it daily in our news (terrorism, war, oppression, sexual abuse, greed, etc…); we view it in our media (pornography, filthy language, etc…); we experience it in our everyday lives (adultery, physical and verbal abuse, false religions, anger and hate, etc…). The Gospel of John has repeatedly tried to open our eyes to the fact that the world walks in darkness and cannot see.
How wonderful to know that in a world of darkness, we can have the light of life through Jesus Christ, the light of the world!
