Jesus taught and prepared His disciples for ministry after He returns to His glory. In Chapter 17, He is pouring His heart out to the Father, praying for the disciples and for those that come to Him through their teaching.
In this section we see His heart and prayer for the church, His will for the church, His desire for the church.
Jesus knows that people are going to believe through the words of the disciples, through proclamation, through the letters and writings of the New Testament, and He’s not just praying for His disciples, but also for the people that come after through them – He is praying us!
