10 Jesus stood up and said to her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” 11 She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more.”
John 8:10-11
We live in a time when people are quick to judge and condemn. F. B. Meyer said, “It is a terrible thing for a sinner to fall into the hands of his fellow sinners.” In this passage, the Pharisees and the teachers of the law were trying to trap Jesus by condemning a woman during Jesus’ teaching at the temple. Caring nothing for the poor woman, they were using her as a tool to stop Jesus and His ministry.
Like this woman, we are condemned by our sin. It is only the grace and mercy of God that gives us new life and forgives our sins.
