Turning Toward the Cross

51 As the time drew near for him to ascend to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem. Luke 9:51

Easter does not begin with an empty tomb. It begins with a decision. It begins with a turning.

Luke 9:51 says: “As the time drew near for him to ascend to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem.”

Other translations say: “He set His face toward Jerusalem”, “He steadfastly determined to go”, “He fixed His gaze on what was ahead.”

Before the cross was raised, Jesus turned toward it – willingly and humbly. And before we celebrate the resurrection, we must decide: Will we turn toward the cross?
