Loving God, Loving Others, Making Disciples

It’s in the Small Things

Recently I was reading the passage in Matthew 25 where Jesus separates the sheep from the goats at the final judgment? It’s a very familiar story and it even brings back memories of my high school performance of Godspell, where we crawled around the floor “baa-ing and goating” (not sure what goats sound like).

As I read the passage this time, I was struck by how Jesus separated the two groups. The believers (the sheep) were not separated by huge, grand and glorious deeds but by the little things. “Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?”

As we continue in our series, Transformed, I am amazed at the stories of how God is revealing His presence and changing us in so many ways – even in the little things that we have previously overlooked or have forgotten about. Loving God first and then sharing that love with others – especially in the small ways. I would love to hear your thoughts.
