Loving God, Loving Others, Making Disciples

Love…

Remember the Tina Turner hit song, “What’s Love Got To Do With It?” Well, as I read through God’s Word – the scriptures, I find that Love has a lot to do with it.

“If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels but have not love… I am nothing…Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast…So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13 (selected verses)

Paul, in his letter to the church in Corinth, told them, “Let all that you do be done in love.” (Corinthians 16:14) This doesn’t allow us to pick and choose the times and situations where we love and times when we don’t. Since all scripture is God-breathed and men wrote under the direction of the Holy Spirit, these words that were penned by Paul are from God. All that we do should be done in love including our families, homes, work, and even the frustrating neighbor that cuts his grass early on Saturday mornings. At all times and in all ways, love should be the attitude that moves us.

Just as God loved us and gave us His very best – Jesus, we are called to love one another.
