When the World Looks Like Beasts

In Daniel, Chapter 7, Daniel has visions. His vision begins with chaos. The sea is stirred. Strange beasts emerge. Powerful kingdoms rise. It’s unsettling.

And that’s part of the point. The Bible doesn’t pretend the world is always peaceful and predictable. There are things that frighten us. There are powers we cannot control. There are developments we do not understand.

And faith doesn’t require us to pretend those things aren’t real. Daniel 7 reminds us that what frightens us is never the whole picture. So, Daniel keeps looking. And so should we.

Is there a situation in the world or in your personal life that has been occupying too much of your attention? Has your focus on the problem become greater than your focus on God? Don’t let the beasts become bigger than God. The “beasts” are real, but they are not the whole vision.
