When the Lord first spoke through Hosea, the LORD said to Hosea, “Go, take to yourself a wife of whoredom and have children of whoredom, for the land commits great whoredom by forsaking the LORD.” Hosea 1:2
God uses the prophet Hosea’s life as a graphic picture of the adultery Israel is committing against God. Just as in the time of Hosea, we today often move toward the worship of other “gods.” Money, prestige, family – all take the place of God in our lives as we drift toward disobedience. As we look at the book of Hosea, we see that God continues to pour His love and mercy out on a disobedient people.
