Kill What’s Killing You

5 Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. Colossians 3:5

We like Grace, Freedom, and Blessing, but we don’t like talking about sin and things we don’t want to let go of. And yet, some of us are asking: “Why do I feel stuck?” “Why am I not growing?” The answer might be we’re trying to grow while holding onto what’s holding us back. We want transformation, but we don’t want to deal with what’s preventing it.

Paul, in his letter to the Colossians, uses strong language on purpose. He doesn’t say: Manage it, Control it, or Tolerate it – He says: Kill it!

Sin is not just a mistake or a weakness. It is a destructive force that opposes God’s work in your life. You cannot walk in new life while holding on to old sin. What you don’t kill will slowly kill you.
