Now Jesus was praying in a certain place, and when he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.” Luke 11:1
If you could have been one of Jesus’ disciples and could have asked Him to teach you one thing, what would it have been? Think about everything those disciples witnessed. They saw Jesus heal the sick, give sight to the blind, and feed thousands with a little boy’s lunch. They saw Him speak to the wind and the waves, and even the forces of nature obeyed His voice.
Luke tells us about a particular occasion when one of the disciples asked Jesus to teach them something. And his request was remarkably simple. “Lord, teach us to pray.”
