And have mercy on those who doubt; save others by snatching them out of the fire; to others show mercy with fear, hating even the garment stained by the flesh. Jude 22-23
Jesus says that He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. In a day of false teachers, there is no substitute for embracing the God of all truth, the living Truth in a world dominated by error.
Jude says to that in order for us to earnestly contend for the Gospel we are to:
1) build yourselves up in your most holy faith – READ the WORD,
2) pray in the Holy Spirit – PRAY the WORD,
3) keep yourselves in the love of God – OBEY the WORD and
4) wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life – KEEP WATCHING for the LIVING WORD!
Our response is not just personal, however. We are also called to reach out to others. Jude challenges us to reach out to those who are being affected by false teaching and to respond with compassion, urgency, or fear.
