15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. Ephesians 6:15
In Ephesians 6:15, the Apostle Paul writes about putting on “the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace” as part of the armor of God. He describes it like shoes—something we wear every day, something that carries us wherever we go. That image is so simple, yet so powerful.
Soldiers in the ancient world depended on sturdy footwear to stand firm in battle and move with confidence across difficult terrain. In the same way, God has given us “shoes of peace”—a steady foundation rooted in the good news of Jesus.
This peace is not just the absence of conflict. It’s the deep assurance that through Christ, we are right with God. It’s the calm confidence that no matter what we face, we are held, loved, and secure.
And here’s the key: these shoes are meant to be worn. We don’t just receive peace—we walk in it. Every conversation, every decision, every moment of stress is an opportunity to step out in the peace God has already given us. When anxiety rises, we remember the gospel. When conflict comes, we respond with grace. When the ground feels shaky, we stand firm in Christ. Peace becomes the way we move through the world.
